Included in this week’s issue:
Learning the Difficult Calling to Love
Family is the first and most powerful place where we learn to love and be loved.
Finding the Fingerprints of God in Film
It is important for us to learn to see the fingerprints of God and His truth in unexpected places.
Go around the room and have your staff share films or moments from “non-Christian” films that have a powerful Christian message. Ask them to be creative and explain why they see it the way they do.
What the World Needs From Us…
One of our dear friends, Daniel Darling, vice president for communications at the Southern Baptist’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, wrote a recent book on the false Jesuses we have created. It is an important book because it’s on such an important topic: Getting Jesus right. He shares some thoughts that so resonate with my heart and passion for the Church in today’s world.
“What the world needs from the church is not less engagement, but deeper, more redemptive engagement that abandons a sort of zero-sum, win-at-all-costs, cutthroat type of politics and instead offers gospel-shaped solutions to the most vexing problems facing our communities. The world needs humble, gifted, committed Christians at every level of society, in every discipline and vocation, living out their cultural mandate to subdue and create, reflecting the renewal of creation to be fully consummated at Christ’s return.”
